(212) – THE SONS OF GOD – II

212 – THE SONS OF GOD 2

The god Jehovah who is revealed in the Old Testament had children in this world that did not go through the hands of Jesus Christ. “That the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose” (Gen. 6:2). Some say that the daughters of men were the offspring of Cain, and that the sons of god, the offspring of Seth. Others say that the sons of god were fallen angels and the daughters of men were the beautiful women of the beginning of the story of men, based on Jude 6 and 7.

In order to be a son of the God whom Jesus revealed in the New Testament, people have to go through Jesus Christ, for Jesus said: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13). Cancelling and discrediting the word that Jesus Christ taught to the apostles, Jehovah had children in the Old Testament that did not know Jesus Christ. Let us look at it:

“You are the sons of Jehovah your God; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave your forehead for the sake of the dead” (Deut. 14:1). “You neglected the Rock who begot you, and forgot the God who gave you birth. And Jehovah saw this, and spurned them because of the provocation of His sons and daughters” (Deut. 32:18-19). The law of Jehovah ruled these children of Jehovah. The disobedient were penalized with terrible curses, and were killed, and the obedient ones were blessed because of their merit. “The curse of Jehovah is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the dwelling of the righteous” (Prov. 3:33). There is a very important detail to consider. If the children of Jehovah insisted in the disobedience, Jehovah intensified the curses until the final destruction was reached. In Leviticus chapter 26, Jehovah says, “But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; and if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you. And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: and your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate (Lev. 26:14-33).

It is thus proven that the scourges that Jehovah imposed on the disobedient did not have in view the health of his carnal children, but only their destruction. All those whom Jehovah saved from Egypt were destroyed, except for two (Jude 5: Num. 14:26-38). Destruction was implicit in the curses (Deut. 28:45, 48, 51, 61, 63).

The children of God of the New Testament are not any longer under the curses of Jehovah, according to the teachings of the apostle Paul. “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, ‘Cursed is every one who hangs on a tree’” (Gal. 3:13). This is how things turn up: The Jews of our days do not believe in Jesus Christ, but believe in Jehovah, remaining under the law and of the curses of the law. This curse provided a way for the great holocaust in the German concentration camps during the World War II, beginning in 1939, and ending in 1945. Six thousand Jews died. Paul declares the following: “For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law, but under grace” (Rom. 6:14).

The criterion of Jehovah is that men stop sinning only by fear and dread, so he declares that the principle of knowledge is the fear of Jehovah (Prov. 1:7; 9:10; Ps. 111:10). The criterion of Jesus is a different one. To Jesus and the Father, man does not sin because of love, for the one who really loves will never offend the loved one. This is why Jesus ransoms the sinners from Jehovah’s curses with his blood. The sinner, knowing that he is loved, begins to also love his Savior. Whoever loves sin better than Jesus, will, of course, sin.

The same thing happens with marriage. When a husband loves his wife, he does not commit adultery with another, but if he loves another woman better, this one will be his favorite lover. Speaking of men, the lover is his own flesh with its lusts and evil desires.

We saw that there are two families. One belongs to Jehovah, and the other to Jesus; one is the daughter of wrath and curses, and the other is the daughter of the immeasurable love of Jesus in the cross. One is a slave with her children, and the other is free with her children. The slave one has as her inheritance the earth, and the free one has as her inheritance the universe (1 Pet. 1:3-4; 2 Tim. 4:18).

We have in the Bible, though, a third family: it is formed by the seed of Satan. The one to clarify the issue was the very Jehovah, when he said to the serpent: “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel” (Gen. 3:15).

Well, the serpent is also Satan (Rev. 12:9). This seed is the tares of the parable. The tares grow among the wheat, it is very similar to the wheat, but it does not produce fruit. It is only straw. Jesus, explaining the parable, says: “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man, and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one; and the enemy who sowed them is the devil” (Matt. 13:37-39). The apostle John declares what is the behavior of the children of the devil. “By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: any one who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother” (1 John 3:10). In the letter to the Hebrews, we read that the children of the devil are the illegitimate children. “But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons” (Heb. 12:8).

The children of God, the Father, begotten by the church, are disciplined in the Church, according to the teaching of Jesus in Matt. 18:15-18):  “And if your brother sins, go and reprove him in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every fact may be confirmed. And if he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax-gatherer.” These are the bastards who are without discipline, and they will be thrown with their father, the devil, in the eternal fire (Matt. 25:41).

It is for us to choose our eternal destiny. With Jehovah, there is the destruction by vengeance, with the devil and the eternal fire. With Jesus, there is the eternal life (1 John 5:11-12).
